This week we’ve learnt a lot about 3D shapes. We’ve focused on cubes, cuboids, square based pyramids, cylinders and cones. We have investigated their faces, edges and vertices and even found real life objects that are 3D shapes such as a toilet roll tubes is a cylinder and a dice is a cube.

This week we took a walk around the school to investigate how ‘green’ Ascot is. We looked for examples of reducing, reusing and recycling and also discussed where improvements could be made, such as turning the lights off when a room is not in use.

We continued learning about forces and how forces can change the speed and direction of an object. This included a carousel of activities on the swings, using balls and ramps.

This week we recycled old materials into new toys. We made cars from toilet rolls, a skipping rope from plastic bags, a rain shaker from toilet rolls and a cup and ball game from yoghurt pots.
