English
We continued our learning about Julia Donaldson and her stories. This week we focused on Julia Donaldson herself and where she got her inspiration and  life story.

Math
We began this week by learning about time. We found the time at quarter hours and thought about the time that we do different activities throughout the day.
We then moved on to revising numbers by ordering and comparing them. We compared numbers by using the < and > signs and located number on an unmarked number line.
  • Round 2-digit numbers to nearest 10
  • Estimate a quantity <100 within a range
  • Complete end of unit assessments
Humanities
This week we found out about ‘The Green School’ in Bali. We watched the virtual tour video of the school and compared their efforts to be ‘green’ with ours.

Science
We had an investigation using toy cars and how the surface of the ground affects how far it will go and how the height of the ramp affects the speed. The children had to ensure that their tests were fairly conducted as well.
  • to suggest a question to test and predict what will happen
  • to decide what to do and what measurements to take
  • to make measurements and record these in a prepared table
  • to use results to make comparisons and to evaluate whether the test was fair
  • to say whether the prediction was correct and to try to explain the results
Art
This week we rounded off our topic on the environment by making a mobile. We decorated the earth using blue paint and green pasta and then hung ideas for how to ‘save the world’.

We watched the 3rd episode of the Class Dojo ‘Big Ideas’ series and discussed the power of ‘yet’.

Next Friday is International Day. Please send students to school dressed in an outfit from the country their class is studying.
