English
This week we were finishing off explanation texts and also writing a recount of our trip to Grandpa’s city garden.
  • looking at stories from the same author
Maths
This week we continued finding the difference between two 2-digit numbers. We also used our bonds to 10 to add on to the next multiple of 10. Using this, we set up a shop in the classroom and had money to buy stationary objects. Some students were the shopkeepers and had to use their bonds to give the right amount of change.
  • Recognise and identify properties (including faces and vertices) of 3D shapes;
  • sort according to properties including number of faces;
  • name the 2D shapes of faces of 3D shapes;
  • tell the time to the nearest quarter on analogue and digital clocks
Humanities
On the trip we learnt about how to live  sustainably by growing our own food, using renewable energy sources and composting food waste.
  • To identify examples of reducing, reusing and recycling around the school.
Science
We recapped our knowledge of push and pull forces and applied this to investigate which objects could we bend, twist, stretch and squash.
  • that pushes or pulls can make things speed up or slow down or change direction
  • to explain how to make familiar objects move faster or slower
Art
We used bottles to make bird feeders and decorated them with tissue paper using papier mache.
  • To use recycled items to produce new toys.
PSHE
We watched the 1st episode of the Class Dojo ‘Big Ideas’ series and discussed how we can challenge our brains.
