Y2 Weekly Update: Term 2 Week 2

English	We investigated explanation texts and their features. This involved looking at different books and highlighting what they shared in common - for example contents, chapters. We extended this by look at an explanation text and how they are different to instructions.	to create our own explanation texts
Math	We looked at place value in 2 digit numbers and completed place value additions and subtractions such as 40+6=46, 46-6=40 and 46-40=6. We also practiced adding 9 and 11 to 2 digit numbers by first adding 10 and then either taking away or adding 1 more.	Revise number bonds to 10; begin to bridge 10; subtract from 10 and 20; use number facts to find the complement to ten; find a difference between two numbers by counting on
Humanities	We learnt what the word ‘pollution’ means and looked at more environments which were badly polluted.	Introduce the idea of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Science	This week we planted some seeds and began keeping a plant diary. We will record any observations as time progresses.	to continue observing changes in our plants and what will happen if we do not provide water or light for our plants.
Art	We made some environmentally friendly art by using materials from the school grounds which would otherwise have been wasted. We did some leaf rubbing, leaf printing and made some leaf characters.	Making recycled crafts.
PSHE		Begin ‘Say ‘No’ to Bullying’ topic
