English	To proofread, edit and peer assess the poetry that we wrote last week as well as learn new types of poetry.Public speaking skills: To recite a poem.	We will begin our new unit, ‘Stories from another culture’ by discussing two different stories set in Africa and South America. We will be identifying various points of view, building our retelling skills, as well as our developing out writing
Maths	Read, write 4-digit numbers and know what each digit represents; compare 4-digit numbers using < and > and place on a number line; add 2-digit numbers mentally; subtract 2-digit and 3-digit numbers	Learn × and ÷ facts for the 6 and 9 times-table and identify patterns; multiply multiples of 10 by single-digit numbers; multiply 2-digit numbers by single-digit numbers (the grid method); find fractions of amounts
UOI	‘Finding out’ part of our unit is where we will find out more about our lines of inquiry, focusing mainly on the concept of ‘well-being’, healthy relationships.	As an extension to our ‘Finding Out stage’, we will be writing surveys to find out more about our topic, discussing conflict, as well as incorporating our Learner Profiles.
Notices and Events	*Please ensure that your child is keeping up to date with his/her homework. New homework will be allocated every Monday. *Times table test on Wednesday will be the 4 times table. Please revise. *Please encourage your children to do extra reading and Mathletics at home!

Musical Chairs

In English, we played musical chairs in order to peer edit our Acrostic Poetry. Some students were able to include adjectives and adverbs and others even added some wonderful similes and alliteration!

Theme: Who we are
	Central idea: People’s relationships with each other can have an impact on well-being Lines of inquiry: How we develop relationships with people (causation) How different relationships affect us in different ways (connection) How relationships affect our wellbeing (reflection)
What this unit is about: In this unit, we would like the students to understand the importance of the connections that we form with others and how it can affect our lives. This unit will allow students to explore the different aspects of well-being and be mindful of creating a balance in their own lives. We are beginning to introduce the concept of International mindedness as we promote open, respectful attitudes to others; whether that be the ideas they share, culture they come from, or their opinions what that means as part of their cultural identity.
Possible links to subjects
English	Write a story about a special relationship and the feelings connected with it. Write a poem, song or rap about relationships. Act out a play, which explores the different feelings connected to relationships. Learn about appropriate use of language depending on the person you are addressing (formal vs. informal language). This could extend to a lesson that includes using speech marks   Writing a character description of someone that exemplifies being a good
Maths	Data collection: students do a survey and collect data on the impacts of relationships on others/ what makes a good friend/ what makes up well-being Information can then be sorted and represented in a graph/tally chart/ pie chart
Social Science	Discussing/ mind maps/reflecting on survey results on the impact of our relationships on our well-being Exploring conflict management strategies

Math	Finding pairs with a total of 100; adding to the next multiple of 100 and subtracting to the previous multiple of 100; subtract by counting up to find a difference; adding several numbers	Read, write 4-digit numbers and know what each digit represents; compare 4-digit numbers using < and > and place on a number line; add 2-digit numbers mentally; subtract 2-digit and 3-digit numbers
UOI	'TUNING IN' part of our UOI explored our first unit: "Peoples relationships with each other can have an impact on well-being". We discussed the meaning of 'well-being', questioning techniques and considered different types of relationships.	‘Finding out’ part of our unit is where we will find out more about our lines of inquiry, focusing mainly on the concept of ‘well-being’, healthy relationships and our Learner Profiles.

UOI Tuning In

This week we worked on understanding our UOI topic by discussing what we already know about the topic and what we are hoping to find out. 

Scrapbooking

We had an awesome UOI lesson today where we did some very creative scrapbooking as a tuning in activity for our 'Who we are' theme.
