Our Christmas projects!

The children love learning about Christmas and joining in with fun Christmas songs. This week we have been working together as a group to decorate our classroom for the joyous holiday. All the children joined in and helped put together a Christmas tree, Santa Clause and fireplace.
For the Christmas tree each child drew around their hand and then together we cut them out. Everyone worked really well together and they couldn't stop singing jingle bells as they were working on the Christmas tree project!

Loy Loy Kratong!!

We had a fantastic Loy Kratong day filled with exciting games and activities. The children loved watching the students participate in Thai dancing. They picked out their brothers and sisters that were dancing and couldn't stop talking about how excited and proud they were to see them up on stage.

Everyone got to make their own kratongs and they did a fantastic job at making them beautiful and really taking their time. When they finished they walked around to show all their friends how their kratongs turned out.

The children got to join in with a variety of Thai games. They all loved joining in with the activities and did a great job at listening to the instructions first and then following the rules. Great job everyone!

Thank you to everyone who came to watch and join in with making kratongs and thank you for the beautiful costumes the children loved showing off their special outfit!

Let's take a journey to the beach!

Dear Parents,

We have had a great week filled with fun games and activities. The children jumped on the train today and took a journey all the way to the beach together! We learned all about sun saftey such as wearing a hat, and using sunsreen to protect our skin. This week they have been joining in with many different art activites and seeing all the different ways that we can use sand for art projects.

They loved making collage pictures to create their sandcastle. After they were finished they each got to sprinkle sand over the top and add on starfish and seashells that they collected by the water.

They also got to paint their own picture of the beach with sand paint. Everyone was able to point out where specific colours were needed, such as the water was blue and the tree was green and brown. Well done everyone!

It's time to count shells at the beach!

Our theme for this week is all about the beach and seaside. For numeracy we have been focusing on how to count up to 5 objects at a time and matching them to the correct number. Each child got to go to the beach and dig for 3 shells in the sandbox. They loved looking for shells and had a great time with this activity. They would count their shells over and over to make sure they counted out the right amount!

For further practice at home you could practice counting out simple objects around the house such as how many pieces of fruit are on your plate.

Dear Parents,

This week we have been learning all about the City and the Country. Together as a class we have created our own city and our own country showing tall buildings in the city and rolling hills in the country. The children love to hear the loud sounds of the city and the quite animal sounds of the countryside. We have been exploring the differences between the two and which one we like better.

For additional learning at home you could explore what they see when they go downtown and the different sounds that they hear. Have fun exploring the enviroment around them.
