Welcome Back to School RM!!

It was lovely to see the children back at school rested and happy to see their friends again!!

During the last week we celebrated our International week where RM focused on Australia. We worked hard all week to collage an Australian flag and paint a fantastic Koala bear. During the week we touched on other countries such as the UK, Switzerland and the children all made a flag of their own country.

During our joint activities with RS we made colourful birds from India, kangaroo puppets from Australia and decorated some Aboriginal masks.

On the last day we celebrated with International day. It was lovely to see children dressed in international dress. We ended the day with a fantastic feast of lovely snacks, thank you to all parents for the great food. The children ate for almost and hour!!!

Food from around the World

Last week we talked about food from around the world. During our joined activities with RS we went to China and Italy! Children role played a chinese restaurant, made art pizzas where they talked about their favourite toppings. We also did writing with spaghetti which was a bit tricky!

International Week

This week is our international week. We will study some of the countries where we come from with a class focus on Australia.

On Friday the children will visit other classrooms to learn about different countries. On Friday afternoon we will have a small party. Please could you send in some small international snacks typical of your country for the children to share. On this day the children are invited to dress in traditional dress or any international costume of your choice.

Thanks for your continued support this half term.

Regards

Janet McDonald

Patterns patterns patterns!!

In maths last week we talked all about patterns and symmetry. We made lots of two and three way patterns and enjoyed using paint to make symmetrical patterns. Children made symmetrical monsters using coloured shapes.

Secret messages to Alien!!

Last week we carried on our space theme as the children are really enjoying it. RM and RS joined classes again to do fun activities together. We made secret messages to aliens, made a view from a spaceship window, and make rockets and spaceships from junk. In maths we worked on adding one and two more.
